The United States Flag:consists of thirteen horizontal stripes, seven red alternating with 6 white. The stripes represent the original 13 colonies, the stars represent the 50 states of the Union. The Shamrock: a 3-Leaf Clover, is Irelands most recognized National Symbol. Patrick used the Shamrock leaf to illustrate the mystery of the Holy Trinity.

The Claddagh: The symbol of Love, Loyalty, and Friendship. The meaning of the heart and hands denotes giving of the heart, and the Crown symbolizes that love rules the world. Originally, there existed a village called "Claddagh", situated on Galway bay, which was the location of the above story. That village has long since been absorbed into what is now called Galway Town.
