The Pingin (1d) (the Irish word for penny) coin was the third smallest denomination of the pre-decimal Irish Pound worth 1/240 of a pound or 1/12 of a Shilling. It was introduced in 1928 and the last year of minting was 1968, it ceased to be legal tender on 31 December 1971.

  • The coin is expertly curved by hand to form a Walking Stick Mount Badge.
  • Measures 1.215 inches (30.9 mm) in diameter, about the size of the US Kennedy Half Dollar and weighs 9.45 grams.
  • It is shaped to fit a 7/8 to 1 1/8" inch diameter shaft.
  • Comes complete with Badge Fitting Instructions and nails for mounting.

The reverse of the penny, the side of the coin selected for this walking stick badge was designed by the English artist Percy Metcalfe and features a hen and five chicks and the coin's Irish name. The obverse features the Irish harp with éire on the left of the harp and the date on the right.
