The Tara Brooch - Fine Enamel

Metal Fine Enamels Brooch. Approximately 1¼" x 1". The Tara Brooch of about 700AD, is generally considered to be the most impressive of all Irish Brooches. It was said to be found in August 1850 on the beach of Bettystown, Co, Meath. The finder, a woman and her two young sons are said to have found it in a box buried in the sand. It was sold to a Dublin Jeweller who named it the �Tara Brooch�. Irish step dancers often wear ornate Tara Brooches on their shoulder as part of their costumes.
